Description

BR Standard Class 5 No. 73054 (built 1954) and BR 4MT class 4-6-0 locomotive No. 75073 (built 1955, and with 82G Templecombe shedplate) are seen passing at Shillingstone station, 75073 with a three carriage Down (Bournemouth-bound) passenger service.

The photo has been timed to show the functioning of the tablet exchange apparatus on 75073.

Note a roped-off part of the platform where platform edging stones have been removed. The signal box is just visible and also note on the right, the hut and perpendicular rails for the local track maintenance trolley.

73054 is shown as allocated to Bath Green Park from March/April 1961 until withdrawal in August 1965. 75073 is shown as being allocated to Bath Green Park from 1957 until moved to Templecombe from November 1962 until withdrawn in December 1965/January 1966.

The photo appears to have been taken during the winter, so this could have been in 1962, 3 or 4 based on the allocations above.
