Description

A fresh look at Ivo Peters’ film of the Somerset & Dorset Railway, which closed in 1966.

In this  second volume, we continue our journey down the line from Masbury Summit on the Mendips, 811 feet above sea level, to Broadstone, the end of the S & D line itself and 8 miles from Bournemouth West. (Part One brought us from Bath to Masbury). We then make a return journey from Evercreech Junction back to Bath on a freight train.

Ivo’s son, Julian, is the narrator for this totally new programme, which has been remastered in its entirety. It includes previously unseen archive film, as well as a new sound track, and then and now shots at several locations. On the inside of the cover is a map of the line, plus a gradient profile, giving an overall picture of the railway.
