Description

Fowler 2P Class No. 40569 (built 1928) and BR Standard Class 5 No. 73054 (built 1954) take the Up Pines Express through what the photographer described as ‘a particularly violent seasonal shower’ in April 1961. Seen near Cannard’s Grave. The train appears to have 11 carriages.

40569 is shown as already allocated to Bath Green Park upon nationalisation in 1948 and remaining either there or at Templecombe until withdrawal in November 1961. 73054 is shown as allocated to Bath Green Park from March/April 1961 until withdrawal in August 1965.
