Description

Stanier Black Five No. 44666 (built Crewe 1949) and Bulleid West Country Class No. 34042 Dorchester (built 1948) are pictured with an Up through service of what appears to be 10 carriages passing over the Bath Road viaduct in Shepton Mallet. The bridge number (81) can be seen on the parapet.

34042 is shown as allocated to Bath Green Park for a while in 1951, then moved to Bournemouth before returning to Bath in December 1951 until autumn 1954. Another Bournemouth allocation lasted from 1956 until August/September 1964. The loco was withdrawn in September/October 1965.
