Description

BR Standard Class 4 No. 75009 (built 1951) and BR Standard Class 9F No. 92001 (built 1954) are seen working hard on an Up service near Winsor Hill.

The Trust’s records show 75009 as being a regular on the 9.45 am Bournemouth to Manchester service (reporting code 1M04) in summer 1962, and this loco was paired with 92001 on 4 & 25 August and 1 September, leaving the train to 92220 Evening Star on the final S&D run on 8 September. Therefore the photo was probably of a Bournemouth-Manchester service and taken in summer 1962.

75009 is shown as allocated to Templecombe in September/October 1961 until November 1962. 92001 is shown as allocated to Bath Green Park from May/June to October/November 1961 and again from June/July 1962 until the following September/October.
