Description

Fowler S&D 7F No. 53808 (built 1925 as S&D No. 88) passes through Midsomer Norton South with a through service in 1962. The train is a Nottingham-Bournemouth service for which a 1O91 reporting code disc is being displayed.

Note that 53808 seems to have lost its shedplate in this view.

53808 is shown as already allocated to Bath Green Park at the time of nationalisation in 1948 and remaining there until withdrawal in April 1964. Arriving at the Woodham Bros. Barry Island scrapyard in August of that year, the locomotive was rescued by the Trust in 1970 and returned to steam in 1987.
