Description

BR 4MT class 4-6-0 locomotive No. 75073 (built 1955, with 82F Bath Green Park shedplate) and BR Standard Class 5 No. 73049 (built 1953) front the 9.03 am Bristol-Bournemouth service on what appears to be a fine, sunny summer day. The 2B92 reporting code disc for this service is being displayed. Seven carriages can be seen but there would likely be more. No date is given for this service.

The service has just passed over Masbury summit and is passing by the co-acting signal arms of the Masbury Down Home signal.

Note the wooden hut for the local track gang’s maintenance trolley and various lightweight buildings on the surrounding properties. Also, an allotment patch to the right of the picture.

75073 is shown as being allocated to Bath Green Park from 1957 until moved to Templecombe from November 1962 and was withdrawn in December 1965/January 1966. 73049 is shown as allocated to Bath Green Park from June/July 1962 until August-October 1964.
