BR Standard Class 4 No. 75027 (built 1954) and Bulleid West Country Class No. 34043 Combe Martin (built 1946) are at the head on a Down (southbound) through service approaching the Roemead Road overbridge and Masbury summit beyond. Photographed from the train.

75027 is shown as being allocated to Templecombe from February 1960 to November 1962. 75027 was subsequently preserved – https://preservedbritishsteamlocomotives.com/75027-2/. 34043 was withdrawn in June 1963. This may indicate a date range for the photo.
