Following its £4.2 million pound rebuild, No. 60103 has graced the main line again after more than 10 years. Flying Scotsman is still considered to be the most famous locomotive in the world and recent publicity has brought the general public’s interest to the forefront. Rare Pathe News film of the locomotive at the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley in 1925; aerial sequences in the 1920s; Kings Cross in January 1963 as Alan Pegler takes ownership; film of the 40th anniversary run in 1968; preparations for export to the USA in 1969. We also feature archive of the locomotive in BR times and follows its fortunes and misfortunes since purchase by Alan Pegler in 1963.
