Description

Fowler 4F Class No. 44422 (built 1927) is approaching Charlton Marshall Halt with an unspecified Down (Bournemouth-bound) service.

The platforms of the Halt and a concrete platelayers’ hut are visible just beyond the overbridge – the change in gradient is very apparent. Just ahead of the engine is a foot crossing with trackside warning notice. Also note the top of the cutting being used as an allotment.

44422 is shown as allocated to Templecombe from November/December 1960 until November 1964.

44422 was subsequently preserved – https://preservedbritishsteamlocomotives.com/44422-lms-4422-br-44422/
