Description

Fowler 4F Class No. 44102 (built 1925, with 82G Templecombe shedplate) was a regular performer on the 6.35 am Evercreech Junction to Poole goods service. The loco is seen here near Blandford in the morning sunshine with the train passing through a twin overbridge. No date is given for this image.

The location appears to be St. Mary’s Drove (now Ward’s Drove) which is at the northern end of the trailway between Spetisbury and Blandford. To the right is a post made from old rail with a plate showing the number ‘4’ on it.

44102 is shown as allocated to Templecombe at nationalisation in 1948 then allocated to Bath Green Park in late 1963 prior to withdrawal in September 1964.
