48706 and 80043 double-head the Stephenson Locomotive Society Railtour on the final day of the S&D, 6 March 1966.
The train was photographed about quarter of a mile west of Radstock North station, heading in the Down direction, ie, towards Midsomer Norton. Adjacent is the connection newly laid to the former Great Western line. This enabled coal from Writhlington Colliery and traffic from Tyning Wagon Works to be handled via the North Somerset line until such traffic ceased, the wagon works closing in 1967 followed by the colliery in 1973.
