LMS 4F No. 44111 is seen on a morning up freight passing through Evercreech New. Photo originally thought to have been taken in autumn 1962. We now believe the photo was taken in September 1963 with the photographer possibly aware that the loco was about to be withdrawn.
From the National Railway Museum’s records, 44411 was:
– Completed build at Derby 30 August 1927.
– Allocated to Sheffield Grimethorpe until transferred to Bristol Barrow Road during the one week ending 6 June 1936.
– Transferred to Bath Green Park during the four weeks ending 19 May 1962.
– Withdrawn during the week ending 21 September 1963.
