2 February 2021.

The S&DRT is sorry to announce the resignation of Ms Abbie Onibonoje as Company Secretary effective 15th January 2021.

Ms Onibonoje, who is also a Solicitor with a top law firm, has been offered an opportunity in the firm to work on a climate change project which will demand her full time attention. As a result, she is not able to continue in the Company Secretary role.

Ms Onibonoje said “It has been a joy and a privilege to be part of an amazing organization and I look forward to collaborating in the future”. The Trustees wish Abbie every success in her new role.

At the same time, the S&DRT is pleased to welcome Andy Norman as the new Company Secretary to the Board. Andy brings extensive commercial experience to the Trust as well as a wide appreciation of heritage rail matters. He has experience in project management and fundraising in addition to his previous steam locomotive footplate work on two Somerset heritage lines. He also has experience in governance, regulatory affairs, HR and training and currently runs his own Recruitment and Consultancy business. He is a good communicator and the Trust looks forward to working with him.

Andy writes, “I am very pleased to be invited to be a part of the S&DRT Management Team and to help prepare for the Trust’s future. I will help the Trust meet the ever increasing challenges of legislation, funding and operating requirements. In addition, my involvement in new working relationships, partnerships and opportunities is something to which I am looking forward”. Andy’s position was effective from 29th January.
