The late Tony Davies used to travel down to the S&D on the overnight trains in the ’50s and ’60s and his extensive running logs were reproduced in a Locomotive Performance series in our magazine.

However, his running logs didn’t stop at the S&D and he obtained similar logs from other lines in Wessex; the Midland & South Western Junction, the Didcot, Newbury & Southampton and the ‘other’ S&D, the Salisbury & Dorset Junction Railway.

This book – 108 pages in A5 size and published by the Trust – presents all of these logs in Tony’s usual very readable style, accompanied by a selection of photographs. The S&D occupies roughly the first half of the book with the other three lines taking the remaining space.
