Ex-SR N15 ‘King Arthur’ class 4-6-0 locomotive No. 30790 ‘Sir Villiars’ (allocated to 71A Eastleigh, withdrawn November 1961) with the Bournemouth West portion of the Down ‘Royal Wessex’ passenger train. Leading vehicle is Corridor Brake Second (BTK/BSK) no. S34158 (from original Festival of Britain ‘Royal Wessex’ stock). Saturday 29 July 1961.

The train is heading down the now-dismantled east chord of the triangle approaching Bournemouth West Junction. The houses in the background are on Erpingham Road.
