Peter Judd has advised the Trust that his father, George, sadly passed away in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
George had been suffering from cancer for many years but this did not stop him from leading an active life and pursuing his interest in railways. He had a special passion for the Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway. He was a stalwart supporter of both the S&D Railway Trust and the S&D Railway Heritage Trust and managed the Annual Raffle for the former until only a couple of years ago.
S&DRT Chairman, Ian Young, commented, “We have lost a great friend and colleague. George served on the, then, Committee of the S&DRT for many years and, though he preferred to work out of the limelight, was a significant player in the development of the Trust”
