Ex-SR ‘Schools’ V class 4-4-0 No. 30912 ‘Downside’ (allocated to 70A Nine Elms) on the 4.15pm passenger train to Waterloo, leading carriage with set no. 266 (recorded by Southern Railway Email Group as disbanded in 1948). Showing SR headcode no. 14 (Waterloo & Bournemouth West, train reporting nos. 36 & 311). Note engineman on tender of ex-SR rebuilt Bulleid ‘West Country’ class No. 34016 ‘Bodmin’. Saturday 22 July 1961.

The train is heading up the now-dismantled east chord of the triangle. Note the lower quadrant ground signal in the bottom right corner of the photo.
