Ex-SR ‘Lord Nelson’ class 4-6-0 locomotive No. 30860 ‘Lord Hawke’ (allocated to 71A Eastleigh shed) ex-Waterloo train for Bournemouth West with SR headcode no. 14 (Waterloo & Bournemouth West, train reporting no. 254). Saturday 29 July 1961.

The train is heading down the now-dismantled east chord of the Branksome Triangle. The houses in the background are in Gordon Road South. Both viaducts – one on the east chord and the other on the main line – are visible in this picture.
