Ex-SR N15 ‘King Arthur’ class 4-6-0 locomotive No. 30790 ‘Sir Villiars’ (allocated to 71A Eastleigh, withdrawn November 1961) carrying train reporting no. 031, with what we believe is the Bournemouth West portion of the Down ‘Royal Wessex’ passenger train (photographer’s notes unclear); leading vehicle no. [S?]35019 (?Corridor Brake Second, BTK/BSK). Saturday 15 July 1961.

The train is heading down the now-dismantled east chord of the triangle approaching Bournemouth West Junction. Banner repeater just visible above the tender. The houses in the background are on Erpingham Road.
