Ex-SR H15 class 4-6-0 locomotive No. 30476 (with 71A Eastleigh shedplate, withdrawn December 1961) with passenger service passing Bournemouth West carriage sidings (may be Bournemouth West portion of 7.55 to Waterloo – photographer’s notes are unclear). SR headcode no. 14 (Waterloo & Bournemouth). Branksome Triangle. Friday 21 July 1961.

The train is heading up the now-dismantled east chord of the Branksome Triangle. Note the lower quadrant ground signal.
