H C Casserley's S&D images

Henry Cyril Casserley – born in 1903 – became one of Britain’s foremost railway photographers, amassing around 60,000 photographs over his lifetime. He started with a basic camera in 1919 which was soon replaced by a quarter-plate reflex camera and later by a camera using the more convenient 35mm film format.

In the auction of the Casserley collection, we recognised one of the other bidders and he has kindly agreed to forward those S&D images that he obtained when he is finished with them.

Our initial images were taken mostly in two locations; Templecombe motive power depot in 1926 and close to Masbury summit in 1938.
