Description

LMS Ivatt 2MT class 2-6-2T locomotive, believed to be No. 41307, and BR Standard 4MT class 2-6-4T locomotive, believed to be No. 80138, double-heading a service across Prestleigh viaduct, believed to be the 14.00 Templecombe – Bath service on Saturday 5 March 1966, many passengers with heads out of windows.

Former Trust Chairman Mike Beale – who was on the mentioned service – believes it to be the service stated. The angle of the sun at about 24 degrees above the horizon indicates that the time is around 2.45-2.55pm which would imply running a little late but Mike thinks that this would be right given the time taken to add the extra locomotive at Evercreech Junction. This fits with a photo taken later in the journey, see 05-009.
