The Pines Express – with Donald Beale and Peter Smith

Recorded memories of S&D Railway personalities introduced by Peter Foster.

The Pines Express came into service in October 1910 and ran from Manchester to Bournemouth West via Bath. It was re-routed away from the S&D in 1962.

This recording will take you on the return journey from Bournemouth to Bath with the famous footplate team of Donald Beale and Peter Smith, togerther with other S&D memories as follows:

–  1st half: Donald Beale and Peter Smith, followed by Arthur Bowen, Bob Downes, Albert Powis, ‘Ginger’ Ridout, ‘Nobby’ Whiting.

–  2nd half: Ivo Peters, Donald and Peter.
