S&DRT Chairman Roger Hardingham takes a close look at the chassis of 53808’s tender and observes that while most of the metalwork is in good order, the rear end – including the dragbox – will need to be renewed.

Noting that a new tender tank will be required, he remarks that it will be less complex than the one currently being progressed by the Urie Locomotive Society nearby.

Roger also sees that our Peckett ‘Kilmersdon’ has returned from hire at the Spa Valley Railway.
