88 A Popular Attraction At Swanage

The Trust's ex Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway 7F freight steam locomotive No.88 was a popular attraction on its recent visit to the Swanage Railway's Steam Gala. The engine proved to be ideal for working the south coast line and performed a number of duties including shuttles between Norden and Harman's Cross along with through services to Swanage.

A number of Trust members visited during the Gala to see 'their ‘engine’ working in unfamiliar territory, including Trust Chairman Godfrey Baker. A display of the Trust's activities was mounted at Swanage Station and attracted considerable interest from the large number of visitors who visited the Gala.
