January Date for Railway Modellers at Edington

Edington Village Hall in Somerset will again be the venue for the Annual, Somerset & Dorset Railway Trust, Model Railway Display.

The display will be held on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th January 2009,and will feature 10 layouts and a number of sales stands of interest to all grades of modellers.

Edington is sign posted on the A39 between Bridgwater and Street.

Phil Smith will also be bringing a layout on Saturday.

Sales stands include the Somerset & Dorset Railway Trust, Ron Lines, Alan Hammond (includes book signing), Bridgwater and South Somerset Area Group of the SDRT and Richard Pretious ( DVD productions).

A video show of railway films will be held as well as a selection of hot and cold drinks, light snacks, sandwiches and home made cakes from ‘Pats’ kitchen.

Edington Junction, not far from the village, was once the junction of the branch to Bridgwater from the Evercreech Junction to Highbridge and Burnham line. The Bridgwater branch closed in 1952 and the Evercreech to Highbridge line closed to passengers along with the rest of the Somerset & Dorset system in 1966.

The display will be open from 10.30 am to 5 pm on Saturday and 10.30 am to 4.30 pm on Sunday. Entry fees are £3 adults, £2.50 concessionaries, £1 child and £6 family ( 2 + 2 ).
