Class 47 Named After Ex S&D Cleaner

On
the 30th September 2008 Colas Rail's Class 47 No 47739 was named 'Robin of Templecombe' after Robin Gould.
Robin started working on the Somerset and Dorset Railway on the 18th January 1954 as a cleaner. When the line closed he was transferred to Westbury where he remained up until retirement.
For the last five years Robin has been working as a driver for Colas Rail. He will soon be 70 years old and has just passed a medical test allowing him to work for another twelve months.
