It is the middle of November and there are no trains running on the West Somerset Railway but work still goes on at the Trust Museum at Washford to conserve the exhibits. The Wagon Team of Pete Davis, Edward Lobjoit and Gerry Leyman spend a day at Washford each week working on projects large and small.

At present we are working on the new footboards for Coach No: 4 and Edward Lobjoit can be seen preparing the top one for its final top coat of paint.

Pete Davis is caught filling gaps around the new door sill we have fitted to NE wagon No: 145741 and cutting rusted bolts from the west end doors of the CCT so they can be removed and replaced along with the side doors.

Gerry Leyman is fitting some new (well new to us) LINBIN racking in the LMS van for bolt storage. In the carpenters' shop can be seen our new timber racking we designed and have had made and fitted. On the second shelf up can be seen the new Douglas Fir timber for the new side doors of the CCT. We will need nearly as much again for the end doors.

The NW Wagon has now been found to have a very loose buffer which we will hopefully remove next week, find out why and then remount securely again, it will then be ready for painting.
We are on site most weeks, generally on a Tuesday and would welcome anyone who would like to join us to help with carpentry, painting and metal work to keep the SDRT exhibits in good order for the future. With our fully equipped workshop we can make first class repairs and rebuilds to all our rail vehicles. No previous experience is necessary.
