Visit our station, shop, museum and workshops at Washford Station

Our base is located on the West Somerset Railway, and on the A39 between Bridgwater and Minehead, in the village of Washford (Post Code TA23 0PP).

We aim to open the shop and museum on as many days as possible when the WSR are running timetabled trains. If travelling by train please check that the Washford board is put out at Bishops Lydeard or Minehead.

In April we plan to open on 1-4, 6-10, 12-17, 20-22, 27-30

The station itself boasts a shop selling books and memorabilia (even hot drinks), museum displays and an entire eplica signal box interior based on Midford. The station is an ideal location for watching and filming trains on the West Somerset. The museum creates an evocative atmosphere with its mass of Somerset & Dorset exhibits.

You can access the museum across the tracks where the Trust’s collection of wagons and vans are stored, together with items rescued from the Somerset & Dorset, which range from photos, handbills and tickets to signals, the peat works railway from Ashcott, the signal cabin from Burnham-on-Sea and even a horse-drawn delivery dray.

The Trust’s workshops are located here, but are not open to the general public. Here we maintain and restore our rolling stock, including three Victorian wooden carriages and ‘Kilmersdon’, our shunting engine.
